Hello friends. I recently installed the version 11.9.5 for NT and I have 2
problems. Is it possible use the same NT user/password for Sybase in trusted
mode. If it's please show me the way. In this version have I the
posibility for scheduling (day and time) the backups (dumps).

Thanks a lot for your information

regards,

Rodrigo

Hola Rodrigo,

Here are the steps to get the server on integrated security:

1.Grant each NT account into SQL Server

Example: sp_grantlogin "DOMAIN\login","default"

2.Map the NT accounts to SQL Server accounts

Example: sp_addlogin DOMAIN_login,sybase,master

3.Configure the SQL Server to allow integrated security

Example: Server Config - Configure SQL Server - Choose <SQL_SERVER_NAME> -
Login Security - Check integrated security,
then press Continue and Set Integrated (Named Pipes Only). Press OK and Save the
new configuration.

4.To check the new configuration go to the command prompt and type :

isql and press Enter when you are prompted for a password.
If you get 1> it means you were connected through Integrated Security.

5.Last step :

regedt32 - HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE \SOFTWARE\SYBASE\Server\<SQL_SERVER_NAME>
Go under Security, then Permissions and change Everyone from Full Control to
Special Access - Read Control

Note: If you locked yourself up:

You have to edit the registry to cancel integrated login to get around this
problem.

1. Run regedt32.exe.

2. Open HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\SYBASE/Server/<server name>/LoginMode.

Example: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\SYBASE/Server/SYBASE/LoginMode

3. Doubleclick LoginMode.

You will see: DWORD Editor dialog

4. Enter 0 in the 'Data:' input field.

5. Click on OK.

6. Select Registry > Exit from the menu.

Hope this helps,

P.S. Can't do sheduling through the server. You will have to use an OS
scheduling utility like at or winat or something better.
