I can't seem to find any help on how to synchronize with a SQL Server
consolidated db. I keep seeing that it's possible, but no examples -- only
Oracle examples.

Can someone point me in the right direction?

It would be great if the help was relevant to Ultralite for MobileVB, having
just gone through the Ultralite for MobileVB User's Guide.

The mobilink newsgroup will probably be a more appropriate forum for this
question.

Please ALWAYS include version and MORE importantly BUILD number with EACH
post (dbeng8 -v).
I will assume you are using 8.0.2.4229 (the current 8.0.2 EBF).

Step 1:

MobiLink Synchronization User's Guide
2. Synchronization Basics
The consolidated database
Creating a consolidated database

...
Microsoft SQL Server Run the syncmss.SQL script, located in the
MobiLink\setup subdirectory of your SQL Anywhere installation.

Step 2:

Start the MobiLink server (assuming you already have a DSN for the SQL
Server database).
dbmlsrv8 -c "uid=sa;pwd=???;DSN=Your_SQL_SERVER_DSN" -vcrs -o ml.txt
-zu+ -za

-zu+ - Allow anyone to synchronize (good for development)
-za - Allow the scripts to be generated (good for development)

Step 3:

Take a remote and synchronize it.

Have you read through the tutorials in the Help file?
If so, which ones?
And what problems did you run into?

SQL Anywhere 8.0.2.3601

I read through tutorials in Ultralite for MobileVB User's Guide. I
eventually did find the help in the Mobilink Synchronization User's Guide,
but thanks for your reply anyway.
My apologies for posting prematurely (I should have read more of the help
first).

That being said, I would like to make some suggestions to perhaps improve
the friendliness of the help for newbies. It would be helpful if there was
some more cross referencing between user's guides. Perhaps a link from the
Ultralite for MobileVB User's Guide to the Mobilink Synchronization User's
Guide? My problem was not knowing where to find information on how to use
another consolidated database besides an ASA database. Once I found it,
there were no other problems.

For example,
Chapter 2 Tutorial: An UltraLite for MobileVB Application for Palm OS

Just above the "Write code to synchronize" section, maybe you could put a
note like "If you wish to synchronize your Ultralite database with a
consolidated database other than Adataptive Server Anywhere, please see The
Consolidated Database within the Mobilink Synchronization User's Guide
Chapter 2: Synchronization Basics". Or something like that.

Even within the Mobilink Synchronization User's Guide, Part 2: Mobilink
Tutorials you've got:

Chapter 14 Tutorial: Synchronizing Adaptive Server Anywhere Databases
Chapter 15 Tutorial: Writing SQL Scripts Using Sybase Central
Chapter 16 Tutorial: Using MobiLink with an Oracle 8i Consolidated

Perhaps another Tutorial called "Using MobiLink with an SQL Server
Consolidated" would be helpful, or even just a little note about other
consolidated databases within one of these tutorials.

Again, thank you very much for your help.
