We have a warm standby to our production database. We apply 15 minutes
trandumps from the production database to the standby database.

We have been experiencing the 6902 error each night after trying to apply
some dumps. Our investigation has shown that one of our
processes/application routine does a drop index and recreate index and we
have found that it is subsequent to this process that our tran dumps fail to
load.

Can we load a transaction dump after dropping and recreating an index ?

What version are you on (select @@version)?

This sounds like it could be CR 189902 (fixed in 12.0):
"When loading a transaction dump which contains a clustered index creation in a
server with a different buffer pool configuration from the server where the dump
was made, pages can get different timestamps compared to the timestamps of the
original database. This can result in 6902 errors for subsequent modifications
to those pages."

Thanks for replying so early, the version of adaptive server we are running
is below

Adaptive Server Enterprise/11.5.1.1/P/Sun_svr4/OS 5.5.1/SWR 8919 ESD
5/opt/Wed Mar 1 19:36:38 PST 2000

Is there a fix for this version?..I am getting excited at the fact that a
solution seems near. In january we started using different buffer pools on
the production server which i don't think exist on the standby server...the
6902 error started just about the same time.

Any suggestions..Thanks

Sorry, the bug is only fixed in 12.0, not in 11.5.x, and as 11.5.x is
end-of-lifed,
the fix won't be backported.

To get the fix you would have to upgrade to 12.0.x.

As a workaround, you can make the buffer pools consistant on the two servers.

I have configured both servers with the same cache and buffer pools and the
transaction dumps went through today without error.

Thanks Bret
