I have got a huge problem and I hope someone can help me! I can't run my
applet on another computer than my own where the httpd-server and my
classes are installed. My own computer has installed :

- jConnect
- httpd-server
- my own classes are installed under /program
files/sybase/jconnect/classes

Everything works fine when I try to run my applet in an browser on my own
machine, but on other machines it seams like there is no contact with the
database. The Sybase SQL Server ver.10 is running on a HP UNIX machine.
This is a very important project I am working on to get my computerengineer
title, and everthing is working fine, but not on other computers. I saw
that the ISQl.html example that is following with jCOnnect is not working
either on others but my machine....
My OS is Win95.
Please help me....
My mailadress is: vanessa@hsr.no
:-)
Bye, Vanessa...

Hi Vanessa,

Just check a few things please:
Do you load /sample/gateway.html?
You need the proxy because the sql server is on another machine than you
web server I guess.

Change your gateway.html file. Change:
<param name=proxy value="localhost:8000">
to
<param name=proxy value="machine_name:8000">
where machine_name is the (DNS) name of the machine the httpd is running
on.
The applet will try to connect from the browser machine to the machine
named in the proxy value. If you are running the browser on the same
machine as the httpd gateway, you are o.k., as "localhost" is in that
case indeed the name of your httpd machine.
If you run the browser from a different machine, the "localhost" refers
to the browser machine itself, and not to the httpd gateway .......

If it doesn't work yet after this change, start your httpd in verbose
mode:(docs/jdbcfaqs6.html#q4):
% java -Dverbose=1 uk.co.demon.cascade.http.HTTPServer www.conf
^^^^^^^^^^^
I hope this helps.

Succes with you thesis,

Hans
