Hi,

I have got a problem when running an applet under Internet Explorer 3.0
(Build 4.70.1158).
The applet runs ok under Netscape, but under IE I got the following error
message on the java log:
Unexpected exception : jdbc.sql.SQLException: No suitable driver, sqlstate
= 08001

I´m using JDK 1.0.2

From the what's new jconnect link at

http://www/products/internet/jconnect/whatsnew.html

The SybDriver constructor has been made public. This was
necessary to
work around a bug in Internet Explorer (static class
initializers which call
static methods in other downloaded classes don't seem to work
right, and
since ALL JDBC drivers register themselves with the
DriverManager this
way... it doesn't work). So now there is a workaround if you
are writing
applets for IE. Change the normal way of loading a driver:

Class.forName("jdbc.sybase.jdbc.SybDriver");
to:
DriverManager.registerDriver((Driver)

Class.forName("jdbc.sybase.jdbc.SybDriver").newInstance());

This will result in the driver being registered twice on non-IE
browsers,
but... shouldn't hurt anything.

download the latest version of the driver or check

http://www/products/internet/jconnect/inst_4.htm#HEADING6-90

for additional details.
