Hi!
Pardon for my english but I am Italian and I don't speak english fluently.
My situation is:
Server: named ntserver
NT 4.0
jdk1.1.1
jConnect download from sybase 28/05/1997
Web Server IIS 2.0
Sybase SQL AnyWhere 5.5.01 Professional

Client:
Windows 95 version B
Internet Explorer 4.0
jdk1.1.1

I start my database sademo.db
dbsrv50 c:\....\sademo.db -x tcpip
Start good!!!!
Web Server OK!
I start dbos50.exe
dbos50 sademo
no error!

SQL.ini
server name = sademo
query NT NLMWSCK
ntserver,8001

ping failed time out!

From the client I connect to server from IE4.0
http://ntserver
Oplà
I get sample (gateway.htlm)
I change SQL server to ntserver
port to 8001
userid to dba
pwd to sql
database to sademo
The press go.
I receive:
java.sql.SQLException: An IO exception was caught from a lower layer and
re-trown: java.io.IOException: Connection failed to
'ntserver:8001' restart connection

I I launch Java Validate on server side
with -S jdbc.sybase.Tds:8001 sademo
ERROR!!!!
Where do I mistake?

You need a master and query port in your sql.ini file. The
port for the master and query will be the same.
