I understand that jConnect will support Secure Socket Layer encrypted
communication between JDBC and the JDBC Gateway when it is supported
in the JavaSoft JDK. Do you know when that will be?

I would say that JavaSoft may be in a better position to give an answer to
this question. You may contact them at java@eng.sun.com.

The email ID in my earlier posting is wrong. The correct email ID
is java@java.sun.com. I apologize for my mistake.

Thanks for the new info. So eng is going to say what ???

I know that I am belating this issue, but it is very important to me!
Is there anyway today, using jConnect to do secure transmission
across the Internet to a gateway or a Sybase database. Or is this
even an issue because of the TDS protocol.

There's nothing in TDS itself to make it secure. (Network General has
an awesome sniffer that can understand TDS.....) OpenClient includes
some encryption, but since jConnect is type 4, its not built using the
OC libraries. Would encryption server just as well???? I know we dont
have it, but just wondering if your using SSL to gurantee the hosts, or
for encryption.
