I was having no problems using IE 3 with jConnect.
Before when I tried to load an applet it would spend about
10 seconds downloading all the class files.
Then I updated to the purchased version of the drivers and lo
and behold it stopped working, or more accurately, it wouldn't
load all the class files and said that it couldn't find a suitable driver.
The problem was with dynamically registering class files. The answer was
in the
documentation though. It says to do this

Compile the following class and install it in
classes/jdbc/sybase/jdbc/SybLoader.class

package jdbc.sybase.jdbc;
import jdbc.sql.*;
import jdbc.sybase.tds.*;
public class SybLoader
{
private SybLoader()
{
}
public static void loadDriver() throws SQLException
{
SybDriver d = new SybDriver();
DriverManager.registerDriver(d);
Protocol p = (Protocol) new Tds();
ProtocolManager.registerProtocol(p);
}
}

If anyone can explain to me why I didn't have this problem with the demo
version I would
greatly appreciate it.

Michael,

If you download the latest EBF for jConnect from ESD or contact
TS for the EBf, you will be in business. We modified the
driver to do the dirty work for you to get around the IE bug.
