My environment is Sybase System 11.0.3, Visual Basic 5.0, NT 4.0 on an
Intel Server, Desktop running Windows 95. My application has three screens,
each with a remote data control and two with a DBListBox, and one with a
DBgrid control.
The three screens open and display data from System 11; but, after openning
and closing several screens, the application aborts with the following
message:

VB5 caused an invalid page fault in module KERNEL32.DLL at 0137:bff78053

Does anyone know of a solution ?

You should check to see that you are not only closing the connection for each
of the RDC's, but you should set your form equal to nothing when you unload it.
This free's up all resources that the form had allocated.

Hope this helps.

Also, you should make sure you're using the latest ODBC driver. The 3.0 driver
has problems that the 3.004 driver fixes. The 3.004 driver has problems that
3.01 fixes...

Also, look into using RDO instead of RDC. Like the other guy, I just don't
trust bound controls.

Daniel

I'm probably just an old fashioned skeptic, but I personally don't trust
any of the data bound controls! Have you applied VB service pack 3? I
believe they fixed a few things to do with data bound controls.

FWIW I prefer to open rdoResultSet objects against procs on the server,
then manually populate non data bound controls on my forms. This allows
me greater flexibility in dealing with nulls or value translations,
gives good performance and hasn't caused a single odd problem.

Hope this helps

Kevin
