You may want to consider using the DataWindow syntax tool.
From the main PB menu...
- choose File>New...
- Select the Tool tabpage
- Choose the DataWindow Syntax tool
Within the application...
- Choose Syntax>Modify>Create from the menu
- Choose Button or Rectangle from the DDLB in the upper left.
- A template for the syntax will be displayed in the MLE at the bottom.

Ongoing kudoes to Sandy Barletta for creating this more-than-nifty utility!

I love DWSyntax so much I put it on my toolbar with the rabbit-in-the-hat
icon<G>. I don't recall which of the TeamSybase guys dug it out originally,
but here is the command line:
wizard:?action=runonly&entry=k60_dwsyntax_sheet

That would have been me. I was experimenting to see how much 'real' PB
stuff I could do in InfoMaker by customizing the default menus, panels.
Sniffing around in the registry, PBDs etc is highly interesting.

Hi,

first build the syntax for the object. The easiest way is to
place an object on a test datawindow and viewing the syntax
in edit source mode. For a button you'll find something like
this:

button(band=detail text="Buttontext" enabled=yes action="0"
border="1" color="33554432" x="1202" y="32" height="120"
width="471" vtextalign="0" htextalign="0" name=b_test
visible="1" font.face="Tahoma" font.height="-12"
font.weight="400" font.family="2" font.pitch="2" font.charset="0"
background.mode="2" background.color="67108864" )

As you see properties like color, width, height ... are coded there.
Build the syntax at runtime and use the CREATE statement in a
dw.modify call:

string ls_sntx, ls_err

ls_sntx = "CREATE " + ... // the syntax for the object here
ls_err = dw_1.modify(ls_sntx)
if ls_err <> '' then
messageBox("Error", ls_err)
end if
