Hi all,
i am a master's student. I have to do a keyword search for spatial
database. I have the data set of a particular district in India. I
have a data model too.
Can some one help me through this task.

My question is - it is a single word (keyword) search. I have the
database schema too. How do i search this keyword through this schema
or the entire data. How do i convert this keyword into a sql query
that the database system would understand and query the database.
Eg keyword- river.

I would appreciate advice.
TIA.

Are you just trying to fine the occurrences of "river" in a particular
column.

select <column list> from <table> where <search column> like "%river%"

e.g.
select * from table where col1 like "%river%"

I have not worked on Spatial database or used Spatial Query
which probably would do what you are looking for in
efficient way(Just a guess);

If you are using relational database(RDBMS), then you would
need to know what columns in what tables would store the
specifc keyword value and these could be queried using SQL
(though this is not what you are looking for and it would
not be a generic solution)...

maybe someone with experience in Spatial option of ASE(if it
exists) might give more insight to get you started...
