Hi All

I have a PB application working on PB 9.02 ver.
When the Application is run it gets loaded into the memory. With every
screen opening in the Application the Memory occupied by the
Application keeps on growing.
I have explictly destroyed structures and datastore objects in the
windows..
Also I have use the Garbage Collect still the Application seems to hold
the memory.
Even though I Open and Close the same screen Memory keeps growing.
Is there a Memory Leak?
Can anything be done to avoid this issue??
Can anyway the application release memory for other Applications
running???

Thanks & Regards
Vishal.

Allocating and releasing memory can be an expensive operation, so PB's
memory manager (if I recall correctly) doesn't release memory once it's been
allocated. What you should see (over time) is that the allocated memory
should reach a point and become steady.
Can you benchmark what you're seeing? How much memory is allocated from a
single window open? The 10th open? The 50th?

Paul
About 4KB of memory grows every time the same window is opened except
the first time. For the first time actual memory required for the
window is taken after that for every Close and Open of the same window
4 kb of memory is used and as far as I hav tried it keeps on growing
till I get a message "Your system is low on Virtual Memory"
Thanks
Vishal

In that case it is growing out of proportions!
I've never had that problem, so I'm affraid there's something wrong with
your window.
Does it only happen with one particular window, or do all windows suffer
the same problem? If it's only one, what kind of objects are on there,
and waht are you doing in that window? Maybe you can post an export file
here.
If it happens with all windows, have you tried updating PB to the latest
build?

Try isolating the issue by incrementally removing code from
your window. This may help to identify where you may have a
memory leak or a possible leakage in PB.

Have observed this on many occassions, where in the memory keeps on adding
up. Noticed, that it was happening when a module was holding x amount of
data, and a response window has popped (not message box). In my case it was
something to do with Timer Interval Settings of the DW and the Visible
properties of a Column. Was trying to blink column. Once I took off these
settings, the memory problem got resolved.
