Greetings! I code an internal application for our company that has
been on PB 6.5 for a long time. I am in the process of upgrading the
application to PB 10.5, and I have been able to solve all related
issues except one:

On our Case Entry window, there is a main Case datawindow and a
secondary Case History datawindow. The Case History contains the
create_date, create_user, and comment for all comments related to the
case. In 6.5, a user can enter a comment, save it, come back to the
same comment and edit it again, and save it again, without a problem.

In 10.5, if a user creates a comment, saves it, and edits the comment
again, then tries to save, the second save gives a "Record Changed by
Someone Else" error and the second save is not processed. The comment
field is a text field, if that matters. The database is MSSQL, and I
did have to change to connect via OLE DB in 10.5.

I have not changed the code of the datawindow between 6.5 and 10.5,
and I have no idea where to look. Any help would be much appreciated.

Thanks,

Jonathan

This error is generated by powerbuilder if the update statement the
datawindow generated did not effect any rows in the database.

It can be avoided by changing the datawindow update properties, or
making sure that the values in the datawindow are the same as the
values that were stored in the table.

You can get more information about the problem by adding code to the
sqlpreview event of the datawindow control, this will hand you the sql
generated for the update which you can then test against the database.

You may also find that you need [,RecheckRows=1] thrown into the
DBPARM.

Hi,
The update property is same in both version of PB 7 and PB 10.5 ,
The update property is specified as UseDelte and then Insert and Key
and updatable columns.
And when checking with sqlpreview,WHERE condition is changed by
including some of date fields that is present in the table of PB 10.5
version, and where in old version sate field is not included.
when I use different DBMS like ODBC or Ado.net am able to
update .Only problem occours when I connect with OLEDB provider and
update the values.

Please give your suggestion regarding this...

regards
Rajesh
