Hi,
we are running sybase 11.9.2 under solaris 2.6 .On the nighly backup we
got the following message :

Backup Server: 4.145.2.37: [3] Error for device '/dev/rmt/
0hn'. Error writing to archive device /dev/rmt/0hn. Attempted to write 2048
bytes, but 0 bytes were written. You may have reached the end of tape.
Retry the dump with 70% of the manufacturer's maximum capacity.

Any kind of help will be appreciated.

thanks

sam

Check in /var/adm/messages for any OS messages regarding the tape
device. It may be that the tape is write protected (although I
would expect a different message for that) or you are, in fact,
trying to write past the end of the tape. Are you doing a 'with init'?
