Hello,

Can Sybase stop processing log via its actual page # and start using a
cross reference for the actual page to a process number.

Example)
PAGE to PROCESS #
======================
1 1
2 2
3 3
. .
. .
. .
10000 10000
50000 10001
50001 10002

I think this could make troubleshooting easier when databases have multiple
fragments log in a database. For example, when the truncation point moves
drastically from one page # to another it can sometimes skew or mask issues
or make them harder to troubleshoot. Sound valid?

Thanks,
Ryan Putnam

Actually I know little of Oracle and I have never worked with. Also, I
have used ISUG before and they never give feedback.

Thanks,

Re: Log Page To Process #

Ryan,
"Is it possible" for you to just put the rest of us out of our misery by
simply asking for Sybase to convert their entire product to look and feel
like Oracle so you don't have to do any more work that you have to to learn
something new? It would save you from posting scads of individual ramblings
which illustrate your displeasure with having to unglue your mind from the
Oracle brainwashing you've obviously suffered.

I think the correct forum for enhancement requests is the ISUG process
anyway.

I don't kow the 'us' that JS is refering to and personally, I don't
like when folks use sweeping generalizations.

Regardless, I love your suggestions. I may not agree with all of them
(not that I can recall which I disagree with ... perhaps the
implementation but that's not really hear or there) but the fact that
there's some new blood looking at the app is a very good thing.

Keep 'em coming!
