HI...
i create a table
----------------------
table A1(a numeric(5,2))
----------------------
and i insert into A1 values(12.333)

>in ORACLE
IT WILL BE DONE......values is 12.33
>in MS-SQL
IT will be done......values is 12.33
>>in sybase

Scale error during implicit conversion of NUMERIC value '12.333' to a
NUMERIC

ANY ONE CAN SOLVE THIS PROBLEM??AND NOT CHANGE(OR ADD) ANY SQL
STATEMENT...??!!

Nope, you can't change the fact that by default, Oracle and MS-SQL will
store your data inaccurately and with loss of scale without even warning
you :)

But seriously, if you REALLY want this behaviour try this:

set arithabort numeric_truncation off

before you attempt the insert. This is a session level setting
(changing the default behaviour) so I wouldn't consider it a change in
SQL. The question I would have is does OR**** or MS-*** allow you to
change their behaviour so that I don't lose precision of my client's data?

Perry,

Do mean that when you or your client called Sybase the Sybase person told
them to go to MSSQL?

while I agree that automatic loss of business data is a great{dubious}
feature, alas you will need to turn on

SET ARITHABORT NUMERIC_TRUNCATION OFF

as I can see from a previous thread, you are already aware.

If you need to this setting for the whole connection, you may want to just
set the connection properties in ODBC, CT-Lib whatever you use.
