After upgrading to sybase ase 12.0 on nt and applying ebf9277 we run
sp_helpdb on a user database and the results for some of the devices are
returned with negative numbers. Is there a fix for this? Also the log
segments are returned as not applicable, but the free space in log is
reported at the very bottom. Is this normal? I need to know how to rectify
this as soon as possible so I can do some space checking to reindex some
tables, and I need to properly estimate the free space available prior to
dropping and recreating the index.

Hi Steve,

I've just started looking into a number of reports of similar behavior. By any
chance,
do you have "no free space accounting" set on for this database? I have heard
conflicting reports that dbcc checkalloc and/or dbcc usedextents sometimes fix
the values in sysusages.unreservedpgs (which is where sp_helpdb gets its
values).

sp_spaceused run within your database will probably give you the information
you need about overall free space.

It is normal in ASE 12.0 for the log space accounting to be just summarized
at the bottom of the report.

Hi Bret

I got the same problem on one of my user databases.
I run dbcc checkalloc :

SQL Server Error on (test) Error:12909 at Line:1 Message:Table with object
id=1 (name = sysobjects) inconsistent after Large Scale Allocation. Page 20
in extent 16 is found reserved.
Indid : 2. 9 Index pages allocated and 2 Extents allocated.

Any idea what's wrong ?

Thanks

Amir
