Hi all,
Is there a way to make a DW grouped by row and column. What I mean is:
Suppose I have columns User, ObjectType, Object. So I need to
represent this data in the next way:

User1 User2 User3
ObjType1 a1 a2 a3
b1 b2
ObjType2 c1 c3

Where, as you understand, a1, a2... c3 are Objects

Is there a way to make this?

Hi,

looks like a crosstab datawindow. Make a
new datawindow and choose the presentation
style "Crosstab" in the first step.

Hi,
You know Chris, I've made this crosstab and have this problem:
I configured it as it should be, but when I retrieve data no data I
can see. When I check what data the dataobject has, it has none.
I even tried to make Importstring which returned 0, so no data is
imported, why do I get this situation?

In addition my PB version is 8.0. And about SQL, should it be some
special one?? I mean with some groupings or in some format to satisfy
crosstab?

And basically the data in the DW is populated through IMPORTSTRING, in

So I found out that Crosstabs does not support Importstring. So what
are the other methods to get data, except standart method of retrieve?

Hi,

I'm afraid for crosstabs you need to use retrieve(). What's wrong
with that?

The problem is that we use another program to create a connection with
DB, so we can't use SetTranObject with SQLCA.

The problem is that we use another program to create a connection with
DB, so we can't use SetTranObject with SQLCA.

No, cause client machine may not have Oracle Client, or event ODBC
Oracle Client Drivers, so I can't initiate a thing. The idea is that
between the DB Server and user Machine stands the Unix server, on
whitch runs an application to connect that connects to DB. So user's
app. calls functions from the Unix machine app, and gets string of
data which is imported in DW. So user machine does not initiate any
transaction, and so I need a method to make it other way.

In April 2000 we had this question here:
I have a table with 40 integer fields, with a primary key of "mo" for
month. Let's say I always have 12 rows, where "mo" has a value of 1-12.
All I want to do is display all these fields in vertical columns, 40
items tall, where the "January" column is on the far left and the
"December" column on the far right. These 'columns' actually correspond
exactly to 'rows' in the table.
Paul supplied a SQL answer, I supplied a Powerscript one. I am attaching it
here. It should be obvious that if number of columns/rows is unknown
beforehand, then datatobjects for getting the data and for displaying it can
be created dynamivcally...
