Hi!
I'm having some trouble making an applet connect to a Sybase SQL Server
11.01. As long as I tried it on my local machine everything was fine
even when I started Netscape and loaded the applet that way! But when I
tried to load it via our LAN I get an security violation from Netscape's
Java console saying
# Security Exception: socket.connect:malawi->192.168.101.223
What could be the reason for this message? I was able to insert data
into my database locally, but I can't set up any connection via our LAN.
I use JDBCconnect from the latest JATO release and the sample applet
(JDBCTransaction) also worked fine!

Any suggestions? Thanks in advance!

Carsten

If your web-server (that you download the applet from) and your
database are not on the same machine, then you need to use the
JDBC/HTTP Gateway which comes with jConnect and the "proxy"
connection property to establish the connection. This is
in the release notes/user guide.
