How do I add rows to a table? I've tried this in Isql but it doesn't
work. I typed

insert tableName (col1) values('data')

It doesn't return any errors, but when I retrieve the data the table is
still empty.

Presuming you are using a Sybase SQL Server your insert statement below
is correct. And it is a good idea to test in isql first. If this
statement
succeeds you should see the message '(1 row affected)'. Do you see
this?
If it did not succeed then I would expect to see some kind of error
message.

Presuming it did succeed then you need to double check how you are
trying
to retrieve the data. Through isql you could simply do:
select col1 from tableName.
