On June 9th I downloaded the 60-day trial version of jConnect. I
installed the HTTPD server on my PC (running Windows 95). I have both
Netscape 3.0 Gold and Netscape 4.01 (Communicator) on my PC.

From my PC (which is running the local HTTPD server), if I use Netscape
3.0 and enter my IP address and the html file for running the jConnect
sample program Isql (132.239.118.182:8000/applet/isql.html), I am able
to run the applet. If I do the same thing using Netscape 4.01, I get
the message "Unexpected
Exception:netscape.security.AppletSecurityException:security. Couldn't
connect to <132.239.118.182>with origin from <local:classpath:classes>".
This message seems to occur when the getConnection method is run.

If I go to another PC and run the sample applet using my PC's IP
address, both versions of Netscape work.

Is there some preference option that must be set in Netscape 4.01 to
allow me to run from the server PC?

Thank you, Ron Block (phone 619-534-7026)

I think the problem is that if the jConnect driver is in your classpath,
Netscape 4.0 is using the local version of the driver rather than
downloading it, so it throws a security exception when it tried to
connect, because localhost appears different to Netscape than your IP.

Thats why its working with other people browsers and not yours. Test
this by removing jConnect from your CLASSPATH and see if it works now.
