I posted a message earlier this morning, but since there has been no
reponse I will post another with some more info. I am trying to use any
of the samples that come with jconnect to connect to a local sybase
database. At home I have NT 4.0 and SQL Anywhere 5, jdk1.1.3 and
jconnect. I have been able to connect to the sybase site
and query pubs2, but am quite confused about how to configure things so
that I can
use jconnect to query my local database, sademo.

I saw in a previous message that dbos50 needed to be run with the arg
sademo, but when
I try an run this I get the error about the missing dll listed in the
subject of this message.

At work I am on Solaris, using SQL Server. I am also not able to connect
to a local
database on the machine where I have installed jconnect. I think that my
main obstacle is understanding the Tds port number, and how to tell the
database to listen on that port.

I may be willing to make a purchase if I can get the trial copy to work.
I'm sure
that I am close to having things working. Can anyone please try and
explain what
I am missing? Thanks.

Th eproblem was that when I installed SQL Anywhere Open Gateway, there
was an optional choice to install the separate "components". By choosing

the optional components I was able to get the libcs.dll file
