Hello.

When I first downloaded jConnect a couple of weeks ago, I easily
established
a connection to our sybase database using the Isql Applet served by the
proxy
included with the jConnect distribution. Worked fine.

Then I upgraded my browser from Netscape 3.01 to Netscape 4.03 and now
the Isql Applet fails with this error mesage:
--------------------------------------------------------------------
Unexpected Exception: netscape.security.AppletSecurityException:
security.Couldn't connect to 'og' with origin from
'local-classpath-classes'.
# UniversalConnect privilege not enabled: Contacting and connecting
with other computers over a network
--------------------------------------------------------------------

Here is a more detailed description of the environment

This software runs on localhost, 'og',....

Linux 2.0.3 (RedHat 4.2)
JDK1.1.1
jConnect installed in /usr/local/build/jdbc (downloaded
mid-September. I can't find the version #)
proxy server (Cascade???) bundled with jConnect runs on port 8000
Netscape 4.03

What happens

I point Netscape 4.03 at og:8000 and get the jdbc/index.html. Ok.

jdbc/index.html offers Isql Applet. I click; it comes. Ok.

I have modified jdbc/sample/gateway.html to connect to inhouse sybase.

(When running this app under ns3.01, I typed the parameters into the applet)

I hit the Go button and get the message shown above.

Thanks in advance for any help. I will publish a solution when found.

JM
