Hi there,

Finally we got eas 3.5 upgrade and I do not why, but first thing crossed my mind:

- is there any changes/improvements regarding threadsafe component/vm (powerbuilder, powerj etc.)?

Regards,
Sem.

There were no real changes to PB's thread safety.  3.5 added a few new threading options.

Thanks Dave.
Then for some jaguar components , it's better to think about powerj  and avoid powerbuilder ?

Ah, but PB is so much easier.... As far as thread-safety in PB goes, as
long as you avoid concurrency on a shared component there's really no
reason to avoid it (... from an obvious PB bigot ;>))

Hi Jim,

that's exactly what I expected to hear.
In my case , I have situation very similar to the shopping cart( or even
demo of the video rental).
The client need to browse the list of the items, then select one or more
rows. The data from selected rows are used to insert in another table,
similar way as making a purchase order. All client are adding records in the
different purchase order.

I think there is no reason to avoid pb nvo/datastore, correct ?
Thanks.

Regards,
Sem.

Based on your description, no reason that I can see - just make sure to set
BindThread on the component b/c the datastore uses ThreadLocal storage - unless
you are creating and destroying the datastore within the confines of a method
call.

Perfect. We did some with EAS 3.0.1
Now I have to upgrade to 3.5 first.

Thanks.
