I am having problems installing the Jaguar Client on Windows 98 machine, at
the end of the install it tries to execute some batch files and fails. I
know these files have to be changed, can someone please post the changes
that need to be made or the actual changed files. Thank You.

Are you trying to run Jagclient.exe or are you trying to install Jaguar on
this machine? Jaguar will not run on 98, you need NT. You can access
Jaguar running on another server from a win98 client though.

I am trying to run Jagclient.exe on 98. I am able to deploy components to
the Jaguar server running on NT, however I thought that one of the things
Jagclient.exe would do is allow me to run Jaguar Manager from 98 and
remotely connect the jag server on NT.

At the end of the Jagclient.exe install it executes a batch file called
...\Jaguar CTS 3.0\client\bin\jagreg_exec.bat.
This batch file fails on the following line of code with the error "Bad
Command or File Name":

jagreg.bat /d "C:\Program Files\Sybase\Jaguar CTS 3.0\client\dll" /t
"C:\Program Files\Sybase\Jaguar CTS 3.0\client\dll" /f "C:\Program
Files\Sybase\Jaguar CTS 3.0\client\dll\SessionManager.reg" /o "C:\Program
Files\Sybase\Jaguar CTS 3.0\client\dll"

I think there is an error in jagreg.bat because typing it alone should
display the help text but instead produces the above mentioned error. I
browsed the file and noticed a "clear" command which to my knowledge will
not work within a Windows batch file, removing the line helped but still
there were problems. If you set the environment variable JAGREG_TRACE =
TRUE it will output the errors. The errors output were "Out of Environment
Space". I tried increasing my enivironment space with the following
command "C:\WINDOWS\COMMAND.COM /E:3000 /P" and this got rid of my
environment space errors but now when the line in the batch file runs all it
produces is the help (usage) text.

Has anyone out there run into this problem and has hacked at these batch
files to get them to work....I would appreciate the help. Thanks.

I got it to work on Win 98 by copying all the files it needs to one
directory. There might be a better way, but this is the brut force method I
used. I also set the environment memory in the properties for the shortcut
to the batch file. Attached is the batch file I use and a directory list of
the files in the same directory.
