Can anyone tell me if I need special software for a C++ program that will be
written in Visual C++ 5/6 to call a component in Jaguar? I have heard of a
program called ORBIX that is suppose ease development of CORBA with C++, but
is it necessary? Any help on this and examples on how I can call a simple
HelloWorld component would be greatly appreciated.

All you need is the Jaguar client C++ libraries. The documentation has an
easy to do C++ client tutorial.

Does the C++ libraries work with any C++ compiler?

Thats an impossible 100% answer to give. Compilers can be pretty finiky,
but if you had difficulties with your particular compiler we would work with
you on it. No one can guartantee their C++ code would always compile with
any compiler, and work the same way.

Just to reinforce what David said, if it doesn't work with your particular
compiler please open a case, and Cc: me on the details. It is our intention
that the C++ support be compiler-neutral, but since we haven't tested all
the available compilers it is possible that you could encounter a problem
that we need to address.
