Hi there,

We are using eas 3.5 and we want to use ASE 11.9.2/NT
Installed open client, then created new db, connection cache on jaguar etc..
On the server side everything looks fine, I can use jaguar connection cache for the component etc.

From client pc(installed open client) I can use sybase central, connect to ase server, browse databases there etc.
From dsedit I can ping ase server with no problem.
The only problem comes when I want i.e to make datawindow from powerbuilder.
I made a SYC profile, but when I try to connect from database painter to ase server I am getting dr.Watson all time.
If I use ODBC connection, again I can open db , see the tables, columns etc..
Strange thing here, it seems to me odbc shows timestamp column as varbinary(8). I know that timestamp is stored this way, but sometime it's confusing.

Can somebody tell where to find more about syc profile setting. I checked several sources(manual, books, sybase docs) but found just few thing about syc.
Thanks.

Regards,
Sem.

Hi,

just found one new thing. From Installing ase 11.9.2, before you use syc for the first time, you must run pbsyc.sql script.
This script is located in d:\sybtools, I have checked all hd directories all install cd,  but there is no such thing.
Can somebody tell where to find it. I think this would be the cause of my problem.

Thanks.

Sem.

Sem,

You should be able to find it under the server subdirectory of the installation CD.

On ase install cd, I have:
redist, ctl3d, win95 and  winnt subdirectories , nothing else.
Searching sdn , found one very old reference to pbsyb.sql from 1997 (FTP download) and pbsyb50, pbsyb60 but nothing related to pb 7.
BTW, if you do not have paid support , then how to enter casexpress or send bug report etc.?

Sem.
