Hi,

I am new to EAS, I am trying to do a sample application with PB as client
and with a component in JAGUAR CTS server and a ORACLE db.

I created a connection cache with OCI 8.x in Jaguar server and I am able to
Ping.

Now I created a client application also created a proxy while trying to run
the application I am getting an error (50:Distributed Service error) . This
is happening when I try to createinstance.

My question is what should I use on the component for SQLCA.DBMS = ???

Pl. help

TIA

Sathiya

Did you confirm that your ConnectToServer() call is succeeding? Would
you mind posting your code?

>My question is what should I use on the component for SQLCA.DBMS = ???

This is the same as any standard PB transaction object.

O73, etc.

Hi Carson,

First of all I would like to thank you for your immediate reply.

It's not my code it's your code??!!!!, I am trying to do this based on your
example.
Any way the following is the code on client connection script

li_rc = icn_easerver.ConnectToServer()
IF li_rc <> 0 THEN
MessageBox( "EAServer Error", "Connection Failed: " + String( li_rc ) )
RETURN
END IF

li_rc = icn_easerver.CreateInstance( inv_server )
IF li_rc <> 0 THEN
MessageBox( "EAServer Error", "Create Failed: " + String( li_rc ) )
RETURN
END IF

The following code is in the component contructor event

sqlca.dbms = "odbc" ------------> My question is what should I use
here if I have cachename confugured with OCI8.x
sqlca.dbparm = "CacheName='easapp'"

THANKS

How funny...

It depends upon the version of Oracle that you're running. It's
likely O84.

sqlca.dbms = "O84"

The distributed service error is a client-side error. The example
maps to localhost. Is that where your server is located?

Hi Carson,

I tried with O84 & O85 and still I am getting the same error.

I changed the localhost to the name of my server.
