I'm trying to call Jaguar components from WebSites served by Apache
Which configuration steps do I have to go in which sequence ?
First, Apache itself is up and running.
Second, I copied the CGI-BINs to the Apache-directory
Third, do I really have to have this CGI-Helper running constantly ?
Then, which listeners do I have to configure, and finally
how do I write web-pages calling the components ??
Are there any public examples for this chain ??

You need to have the Helper Application for CGI running all the time.
Assuming you're running an NT server, you can make it a service by using
the Service Wizard from the NT resourse kit.
Create a mapping (dynamic) in Sybase Central for the directory that the files
that you will be calling Jaguar components will be located in.
In the link to those files, you will need to include a reference to the
There are a number of methods for calling the objects. The two primary ones
that aren't restricted to returning only results sets use either Java stubs
(CreateComponent) or the ActiveX proxy (CreateObject) to talk to the Jaguar
If you want to use the CreateComponent method, you have to generate Java
stubs from Jaguar Manager and then compile them.
If you want to use the CreateObject method, you have to generate the TLB/REG
files and register them.
Using the CreateObject method, you need code something along these lines:
document.writeln ( stringvalue );
That's a trivial example anyway.
