Put a commandbutton on the dw and tie it to the update event. Whatever text
you put on the command button will appear on the button in the form. Is
that what you were asking?

Not exactly, I do not want to execute the "update" action.

I want to interpret a user-defined action.

I want action to be "myaction"
I want context to be "whatever the html context is"

When a user-defined button is placed on HTML datawindow the button is ignored.
How do I associate an action to the button? I will then code in my object what I
need to do when that action is sent back from browser.

What you need to do is write some client-side event for the clicked event
and capture the button.

Define a button as user defined.
In client-side scripting, code something like the following.
<SCRIPT language=JavaScript>

function dwMine_Clicked(row, objName)
{
if (objName == "b_update")
{
dwMine.Update()
}
}
</SCRIPT>

This will cause a page reload. Also, if possible, I would use the button
action of update instead of using user defined buttons.

Any reason you want to not use the update action for the button?
