Freeform datawindows display nicely in IE5 but a disaster in Netscape
4.7. The reason is because the HTML generated for IE5 use absolute
positioning, in comparing to the HTML generated for Netscape 4.7 use
only one table layout for the entire datawidow, which is unacceptable.
Both IE5 and Netscape 4.7 support absolute positioning. My question is
how to force the generated HTML to use absolute positioning instead of
table layout in Netscape 4.7?

I am using EAStudio 3.0.1.

TIA,
Soo

Unfortunately you cannot tell the HTMLGenerator to use absolute positioning.
Try to avoid using expressions for attributes and you can make a datawindow
look acceptable in both IE and netscape. There some other things as well,
but expressions really throw it off.

Alternatively, u can translate the html generated for IE to the netscape
format at runtime ( In general, replace all those span tag with layer ). It
is a litter bit complicated but is possible. I have try that before, it
works fine except that I face some taborder problem where I failed to
resolve. It seem really strange to me that sybase didn't generate a layer
page for netscape since it isn't really much more difficult to do than the
css positioning stuff. This is a really important feature that have been left
out since netscape still have a big portion of the browser market share. I
known Netscape 5 will solve the problem but it still have a long way to go.
