I need some help. I just installed EAServer 3.5 and am having trouble
accessing the SVU sample from an ACTIVEX client (Lotus Notes). I
previously had 3.0 and everything was working fine with the following
code in a Lotus Notes agent:

Sub Initialize
'Notes Objects
Dim session As New NotesSession
Dim db As NotesDatabase
Dim rtitem As NotesRichTextItem

'Jaguar Objects
Dim SVUObject As Variant
Dim RecordSet As Variant
Dim Fields As Variant
Dim Field As Variant

'-----------------------------------

Set db = session.CurrentDatabase
Set StatsDoc = New NotesDocument( db )
StatsDoc.Form = "Stats"
Set rtitem = StatsDoc.CreateRichTextItem ("JagResults")

Set SVUObject = CreateObject("SVU.SVUEnrollment.4")
SVUObject.UserName = " "
SVUObject.Password = " "
SVUObject.Host = "MYJAGSERVER:9000"
SVUObject.Name = "SVU/SVUEnrollment"

SVUObject.Initialize

If SVUObject.IsJaguarObject() Then
Set RecordSet=SVUObject.GetMajors()

Do
' Position the row pointer before the first row.
RecordSet.MoveFirst
RowCount = 1
' Iterate through all the rows.
While RecordSet.EOF = False
Call rtitem.AppendText ("Row#")
Call rtitem.AppendText (RowCount)
Call rtitem.AddNewLine( 1 )
' Fields object represents the current row.
Set Fields = RecordSet.Fields()
' Iterate through columns.
FieldCount = Fields.Count
For i = 0 To (FieldCount -1)
Set Field = Fields.Item(i)
' ... retrieve Field properties to
process column
' data as desired ...

Call rtitem.AppendText (Field.Name)
Call rtitem.AppendText (" = ")
Call rtitem.AppendText (Field.Value)
Call rtitem.AppendText (" ")
Next

' Move to the next row.
Call rtitem.AddNewLine( 1 )
RowCount = RowCount + 1
RecordSet.MoveNext
Wend
' Move to the next result set, if any.
Set RecordSet = RecordSet.NextRecordSet()
Loop Until RecordSet.EOF = True

Call StatsDoc.Save(False,False)
End If

End Sub

The above code was connecting to the 3.0 server and returning a result
set from the "getmajors" method and the data written to a Notes
document.

Now with 3.5 EAS, after I regenerated the .REG and .TLB files and
re-registered them on the client (as well as re-run the new
jagclient.exe), I get the following error from the client:

"Initialize() method: The creation of the Component SVU/SVUEnrollment
failed: The invocation of the method on the Jaguar Server failed because
component implementation was not deployed on the Jaguar Server."

And on the server side the Srv.log file has the following:

Feb 18 16:23:37 2000: Exception 'CosNaming::NamingContext::NotFound' in
Session::lookup for component 'SVU/SVUEnrollment'
Feb 18 16:23:37 2000: SystemException: OBJECT_NOT_EXIST (Session/lookup
- @0.0.0.0)

Please, can anyone help with this ??? Did I miss something during the
installation of 3.5 ? This is just a sample after all and I am
following the instructions in the documentation verbatum. As a matter
of fact the docs in 3.5 did not look any different than the 3.0 docs.

Any help would be appreciated. Thank You.

Change this line to

SVUObject.Name = "SVUEnrollment"

Instead. Any better?

Thanks but I tried that and it still gives the same error messages. I don't
get it. In JagManager all looks fine and ISQL works as in documentation and
as in 3.0. What could be wrong ??

Now why the heck is it still looking for the package/component? The problem
is that an EJB only registers its name not its package/name. Is there
somewhere in the code where you are setting it to package/component instead
of just component?

Dave, that was my question exactly. But this is the demo component straight out
of the 3.5 installation. No changes made. Heck, I wouldn't even know where to
go to make such a change in the demo's code.

I forgot to mention that when I test the connection/method using ISQL using

exec SVU.SVUEnrollment.getMajors

All works fine also.

When I look in Jaguar Manager the component and methods are there but their
location is different then when I was testing them in 3.0. Now the tree
structure looks like this:
SVU/SVUEnrollment/Interface/com::sybase::jaguar::sample::svu::SVUEnrollment

and then the methods.

In 3.0 it was SVU/SVUEnrollment/ and then the methods.
Also in 3.0 the "component type" was "Java with IDL Datatypes" in 3.5 it is
now "EJB - Stateless Session Bean". Could this be causing me the problem.
I can't call this method from an ActiveX proxy ??
