I'm proposing the use of Powerbuilder 7.0 and EA server in an
application development project to my client.

The project will deliver additional functionality to an existing
application. The existing application is written in PowerBuilder 5.0
and is a client-server application which connects directly to a MS SQL
Server data base server.

For the new development we wish to make full use of EA Server to encode
business rules and to provide more control over access to the database.
All access to the database in the new portions of the application will
be implemented via EA Server. There will be not direct connection to
the SQL Server from the client exe.

In the first release of the new application we intend to incorporate
most of the source of the existing application within the new
application with minimal changes.

My question... (at last!) is it possible for a PowerBuilder 7.0 app to
connect to BOTH the EA Server, and to the MS SQL Server within a single
exe?

Based on my experience with PB05 I would think it would be as simple as
using two transaction objects:
-One which connects to EA Server, while the other connects to the MS SQL
Server.

Is this correct?

Thanks in advance for anyone which responds

This should work fine although you'll likely use the PB 7.0 connection
object to talk to EAServer and the transaction object to talk to MS
SQLServer.
