Hi,
I have a url on the link property of a column in a datawindow and it
causes the page to load in the current page. How do I get it to open a
new window so I dont have to use the back button.

Rgds

Try using the TARGET attribute as part of the link. If you point it at
_blank it will open a new instance of the browser.

will this TARGET Attribute work inside a
<SCRIPT Language=Javascipt>
</SCRIPT> ???

(client-side scripting?)

i have this requirement when the user clicks on a HTMLDW Button, it has to
open up a new session.

You can use client-side JavaScript for this -- create a function as follows:

function htmlDW_ButtonClicked( row, objName )
{
if ( objName == 'name of your button )
window.open( 'place url here' );
}

This assumes the button is assigned a user-defined action in the painter.
Make sure you enable client-side scripting in your datawindow.
