Hi All
I have recently noticed that if a user presses the stop button while you
have a server side object performing some validation scripts then that
object will remain active.

Will setting the timeout on this object help to return it to the
flock???

If so, when does the component begin to start determining if it shoud
timeout?

Rgds
Adam

Yes. The timeout is idle time between method calls. So from when the
method finishes what it started until the time expires.

Now, these are stateful objects you're talking about?

I tried the timeout property on a couple of components and I cant tell if they
have timed out or not.
The jagmanager still says 1 active component and no objects pooled.
Should the object be returned to the pool or is there something wrong with the
manager itself. I tried shutting down the jagman and it still shows no obejcts
pooled.

Well I like to call them semi-stateless in that I call a number of methods and
have wrapper functions to setabort or setcomplete. So yes they are stateless
and are pooled. The time between method calls is very short so if I set the
timeout I should be okay???

Thanks for your quick reply Dave, I only sent this less than 15 mins ago.

I tried the timeout and it still remains active and not pooled.
If these components create other components that may be active when the user
stops the browser, could they be holding a lock or something that is causing
them to not time out.
