I am using a web datawindow that has a few fields the user must enter
and when complete the data may require that one other field be populated
from a list of data retrieved using the data enetered as retrieval
Now can I do this by opening another window and the popup show the list
and the user then chooses a value and it is returned to the original
page. I would want the window to NOT be able to close or if it closes
the parent window will close.
Is this possible, or is there any other way.

The way the web datawindow was designed was to use service classes to
validate data. With that said, you can create a required field "service
class" that is table driven, and marks which fields are required.
As for opening up a different window, that's more difficult. You would
need, IMO, to store the information into a table, load a different page that
displays the data, lets the user pick the value(s) and then return back to
the other page. You can have a "child" window reference a datawindow on the
parent window that opened it and do SetItem, which I believe is what you are
