Hi,
I'm going thru the emusicj tutorial and am bcomming a convert to PowerJ.

Probelm: When Deploying the contents of the ORDERS.WXJ workspace, I get
a slew of errors (please see below). Has anyone else run into this?
(If you have the tutorial instructions it is on page 66)

Thanks in advance,
Paul
(if this should be on the powerJ newsgroup instead of here, let me
know.)

Hi,

Followed the advice about deleting the package. Now the app no longer runs.

PowerJ3.5, Jaguar 3.5, WinNT 4 sp6

I've been going thru the EMusicJ tutorial and have been largely successful
with each part. However, each time the tutorial asks to deploy a new
component, the deployment fails if the emusicj package already exists on the
Jaguar server.

I renamed the emusij package, deployed the new components successfully.

The app would no longer run, so I copied the other previously deployed
components to the (new) emusicj package. Refreshed and restarted the Jaguar
Server.

Here are the debug log messages. It can no longer find the two components
built prior to "Cart".

Is there some way of making the app aware of these components (CD and
ARTIST) again? Is there some reading I can do on this?

The debug log shows the following:
lookup: component Artist connected=true useJavaNaming=true
javax.naming lookup failed for component: Artist
Exception: (Root exception is: org.omg.CORBA.OBJECT_NOT_EXIST:
]javax.namingException
lookup: component CD connected=true useJavaNaming=true
javax.naming lookup failed for component: CD
Exception: (Root exception is: org.omg.CORBA.OBJECT_NOT_EXIST:
]javax.namingException
lookup: component Cart connected=true useJavaNaming=true
javax.naming lookup failed for component: Cart
Component: Cart Found.

Thanks in advance,
Paul

Paul,

Make sure the connection object in PowerJ is using the correct connection
type (EJB or CORBA).

Hi,
I had this today too.

You have a package called EMusicJ. Go into Jaguar Manager and remove
the package (I also removed the IDL) from the GLOBAL view (not on your
Jaguar server). I than had to restart the server to get it to work.

Thanks.

I renamed the package, and was then able to deploy.

However, now I've built the CART EJB and am trying to deploy that. I get the
same exact error messages. Is this package something that is built and then
deleted, or must it persist for the app to work?

Beginning of error dump:

>com.sybase.jaguar.util.JException: Package EMusicJ already exists.
>com.sybase.jaguar.util.JException: a package to be added can't be null

I'm a bit confused.
EAS 3.5, PowerJ3.5, NT 4 SP6

Thanks,
Paul
