Hi:

This is kind of a continuation of a question earlier about the 3.5
install and registry problems. Thanks to Carson and Scott for some
suggestions as to the proper setup of the path and classpath.

But... after changing things I cannot connect to the Jag CTS 3.5 demo db
(SVU). The strange thing is that the old classpath will work, but the
new one doesn't.

This works (but old classpath):

;.\ASEP\Monclass.zip;.\ASEP\3pclass.zip;c:\progra~1\sybase\jconnect\classes\jconn2.jar;c:\progra~1\sybase\jconnect\classes;

And the one I'm trying now (which does not work) looks like:

.;e:\Program Files\Sybase\Shared\Sun\jdk118\lib\classes.zip;e:\Program
Files\Sybase\Shared\PowerBuilder\classes.zip;e:\Program
Files\Sybase\Jaguar CTS 3.5\html\classes;e:\Program Files\Sybase\Jaguar
CTS 3.5\html\classes\jconn2.jar;e:\Program
Files\Sybase\Shared\jConnect-4_2\classes;E:\Program Files\Sybase\Jaguar
CTS 3.5\java\classes;.

Some other env vars I have set are:

JAGUAR=E:\Program Files\Sybase\Jaguar CTS 3.5
JAGUAR_CLIENT_ROOT=E:\Program Files\Sybase\Jaguar CTS 3.5\client
JAVA_HOME=e:\Program Files\Sybase\Shared\Sun\jdk118
JDBC_HOME=e:\Program Files\Sybase\Shared\jConnect-4_2
JDK_LATEST=e:\Program Files\Sybase\Shared\Sun\Jdk118
JRE_LATEST=E:\Program Files\Sybase\Jaguar CTS 3.5\jre

I assume I should be using jconnect 4.2 -- is that right?

What am I doing wrong?

Thanks for any help,

-- Harvey

Harvey,

What error are you getting when you try to connect? Are you able to start
the DB successfully using Sybase Central?

Thanks for your reply, Scott. I'm home today, so I can't give you the exact
error message or test through SC, but as I mentioned, the DB starts up and
everything seems to be working fine if I use my old classpath (which points to
an old installation of jconnect).
