I found several problems of EA Server 3.5. All of them did not find in
the
version 3.0.
1. Can not compile the Java stubs:
I got "unexpected character" error when Java stub was compiled if the
first
character of the user object is 'u'. When Java stub generated by EA
Server 3.5,
the EA server will create a comment on each Java file. The comment
includes
package name and user object name, which likes
"package_name\u_myobject". If
the use object name begins with character 'u', the '\u' is
"unexpected
character". I had to delete the "\u" from the comments of all Java files
and
then to compile.
2. Can not deploy the PowerBuilder components to jaguar:
Every time after the project is executed to deploy the PowerBuilder
components
to jaguar the PowerBuilder is terminated with no error message. No new
pbd is
generated and no new components send to jaguar.
3. Can not load local components manager of PowerSite 7.1
After PowerSite 7.1 installed I got error message: "Can not load local

components manager". Even I run Pmcmupdt.exe to update my old component
manager,
I still got error. I had to create a total new workplace.

I installed the EA Server 3.5 in the two machines. One is an NT 4.0
workstation
and another is NT 4.0 server. In order to get right installation,
before I
installed new one, I uninstalled all old EA Server components such as
PowerSite
7.0, PowerDynamo 3.0 and Jaguar 3.0 and clear all Registry and system
environments setting.

Dave answered the first issue. I'll try to help with the second.

1. Try deploying your components individually. Use Live Editing - I find
this is more helpful to track down deployment issues.
2. MAKE VERY SURE you do not pass visual objects (such as datwindows) to any
function in your nvo's. This will cause exactly the problem you have
described in deploying. (Found that one out to my dismay in the middle of a
class - but it eventually served as a forceful reminder about the problem).

regards,
Bill

This is a bug in the JavaSoft compiler. We have since changed our code
generator to use forward slashes to avoid the JavaSoft bug.
