I am getting the following errors when trying to update a database through a
connection cache. It worked before, but now it doesn't. Here is the error:
Mar 23 16:56:19 2000: AFLIB Message: 18213/11/0:
[Y:\calm\conn\itg\jagsrv\generic\dispatch\TxCMCallBacks.cc/121]:
CMPreConnCB(): Different user/pwd/server combination being requested --
One-Phase transaction no longer consistent
Can someone tell me what it means,
Rich

I believe that I might know the cause of the problem but I do not know how
to fix it. My program is using two different connection caches. One to
only query from an instance of a database and another connection cache that
manipulates data in another instance of a database. When my program only
uses one connection cache it works fine.

By the way I am using PB 7.0.2 and Jaguar 3.5.

Any ideas,

Thanks,
Rich

You'll need to use two different components to do this, one for each
connection cache.

I am only connected to one connection cache at a time. My object is
stateless and everytime it is finished with what ever is doing it
disconnects from that cache.

When a method is called it checks to see which connection cache it needs to
connect to.

Do I still need two objects?

Thanks,
Rich

If you are only using one connection cache during the bound part of
the component's lifecycle, this should not be a problem. Are you
disconnecting?

Is the component marked as transactional? If so this is the issue. When
you call to release the connection the cache manager asks the Tx manager if
this is ok. If there is still a Tx pending (b/c you havent deactivated) the
Tx manager will say no, its not ok and ignore your call. We do this so that
inter-comp calls keep the same connection even when you asked to release it.
When you have two connections in one Tx the Tx manager gets very tweaked as
it now cannot maintain attomicity. Do you need a true 2PC tx?

As Carson says, its safest to use different components for each cache.

The component is transactional. I will split them into two different
components.

Thanks for all of your and Carson's help.
