Dave,

Im am not using PD, and since I have been getting this error message, I am
gett CORBA exceptions when I try to invoke certain methods. Here is a sample
of the server log that I am now getting:

Mar 23 22:37:30 2000: Warning: interface Country is illegal in module
country (see CORBA 2.3 section 3.15.2)
Mar 23 22:37:36 2000: Jaguar/Management refresh Component country/Country

Mar 23 22:39:39 2000: Jaguar/Management refresh Component country/Market
Mar 23 22:39:39 2000: Jaguar/Management control NameService
Component:country/Market - status = 0
Mar 23 22:41:43 2000: Loading: D:\Program Files\Sybase\Jaguar CTS

Mar 23 22:41:43 2000: Loading: D:\Program Files\Sybase\Jaguar CTS

Mar 23 22:41:43 2000: Loading: D:\Program Files\Sybase\Jaguar CTS
3.5\java\classes\com\gtms\country\MarketImpl.class
Mar 23 22:41:43 2000: Loading: D:\Program Files\Sybase\Jaguar CTS
3.5\java\classes\com\gtms\country\_sk_country_Market.class
Mar 23 22:41:54 2000: SystemException: BAD_OPERATION
(country/Market/retrieve - @127.0.0.1)

1. What does this message mean the: Warning: interface Country is illegal in
module country (see CORBA 2.3 section 3.15.2) I have never seen this

2. I am getting the SystemException: BAD_OPERATION , when I try to invoke a
retreive method on my component.

3. I also re-installed the 3.5 EBF, hoping that this would fix it, and no
luck, I am really thinking about installing 3.5 again... I have been at this
for hours.

Thanx

Bruce

You can take a look at the CORBA spec on line at www.omg.org, but basically it's
because of scoping issues where, in this case, you have a module and and
interface with the same name.

This usually means that it can't find the method with the particular signature
within the component - I don't know if the warning in 1 would actually produce
this error as a side effect.

I don't think reinstalling is going to fix anything in this context. I'm not
literate enough with the CORBA support changes in 3.0.1 versus 3.5, but if 3.0.1
supported CORBA 2.2 then the scoping issue reference in (1) may not have been a
limitation, but rather something introduced in CORBA 2.3. Again, this is
somewhat of a big conjecture on my part.

Jim,

We checked the specification and the CORBA 2.3 specification denotes that
we can not have a package and component named the same ... so thanx
