We have been trying to install Jaguar on an NT machine (service pack 5). After
we reboot the machine we start Jaguar (it's not installed as a service) but we
don't get the line "Now accepting connections...", the srv.log is empty, and
Jaguar crashes with a Dr. Whatson error after a couple minutes. We've tried
installing Jaguar versions 3.0, the 7.01 upgrade and 3.5 but we always got
similar results. We are running out of ideas...
Please help!
Thanks in advance,
Stan

The last line on the console says:
Enabling 40-bit encryption.

1) Create a text file %JAGUAR%\bin\random.txt and fill it with random typing
2) Create a SYSTEM ENVIRONMENT variables JAGUAR_RANDOMSEED and set its value
to %JAGUAR%\bin\random.txt

try now.

Dave,

I tried what you asked me to and now I get an additional line in the console:
Starting services...

However I get a Dr. Whatson error right after this line shows up...

Thanks for helping me out,
Stan

Have you changed the jagadmin password by any chance? If so, go into the
jaguar.props file and delete the reference to SurfsideVideoPJ/CleanupService in the
.services property. Somebody ;>) introduced a bug in that code that manifests
itself when the password is changed. It's fixed in recent releases, but your log
file shows you using 3.0.1MR and I'm not sure if the fix is there or not.

Jim,

now we got the Debug server to run without crashing. However, the "developer

Well, I was following this topic because I have the same problem. My jag NT service
crashes. The only work around I have found so far is to reinstall jaguar on the
machine. Any other solution would be appreciated. The thread on the conversation
ended before an answer was found. . .any ideas?

we did reboot. Now we still get the Dr. Whatson error when we run Jaguar
(developer version). However, the Jaguar Debug Server runs without any errors.
This is the log file we get when Jaguar crashes:
