I'm still struggling with how this all 'fits' together...

I need to keep the client thin. (That's fine, I understand the 'business
logic' would stay in Jaguar) But I get confused at the deployment I
guess...
When I deploy Jaguar, does Dynamo go with it? Can I take advantage of the
DynaScript? If I need to go to IIS, does that eliminate Dynamo?

Also, I guess I'm thinking that the datawindow, while a powerful tool, is
used primarily for display (and update) of single table data. Am I
trivializing the datawindow?
Can a datawindow invoke a java servlet? Can it access the 'business logic'?
(I know I can from Dynamo) I've seen a number of recommendations to
create/modify my own version of the HTML generator. With EAServer, is it
written in PowerJ?

I understand that there are many ways to build an n-tier Web application,
but I'm struggling trying to boil this down to lowest common denominator. I
cannot guarantee the database nor web server, and I can't seem to find the
'right' paper on sdn to help me let this sink in... I apologize for the
(obvious) ignorance.
(and my incessent babbling...)

(I've tried the eMusic demo, but as I only have EAServer, I don't seem to
get through it. (I need PB right?) (I'll go through the eMusicJ demo as
soon as EAServer 3.5 is delivered. promise.)

Thanks in advance for any help,

Dan

Jaguar is component transaction server, PowerDynamo is dynamic page server
,they're different so if you're thinking about HTML clients you must have
both of them on your deployment environment

Yes, you are. Datawindows can retrieve data from several databases, provide
the framework to handle events at client side, provide the interface to the
user. But you must still code the behavior to this events (ItemChanged,
Clicked) using a combination of Dynascript and Javascript(They are not the
same)

The HTMLGenerator component is written in powerbuilder so you must customize
this component using powerbuilder and create the method(s) you need.

The website http:\\sdn.sybase.com has a lot of information that can help
you to understand the whole picture, you can search articles like e-map to
powerbuilder, Larry Cermark's articles are also excellent.

Jorge,

Thanks for the response.

I currently only have EAServer and therefore don't have PB. Do you think I
can successfully use just the Dynascript and Javascript options to extend
the DataWindow technology?

You need a tool to build your datawindow objects, e.g. Datawindow Builder.
But you can still use powerdynamo features to format data that is retrieved
from the database or jaguar components.
