Hi!

after i reload the page in ItemChanged, the page parameters are set properly
in the columns for end_date and start_date via of_setitem(). BUT when i
click the column, the date changes to 'NaN/undefined/aN
undefined:undefined:undefined' on the2 columns.

of_setitem( long row, string colname, string colvalue)
the two columns are defined in the DW as datetime.

tests:
i key in the values 1999.12.23 on each of the datetime col. when i press the
tab, the DW converts it to 12.23.1999 which is fine. the same thing is
happening to end_date.

wats the problem here?

ff. is a portion of my script:

Hi,

For the Nan/.... stuff: This is a known bug SINCE MORE THAN A YEAR.
So maybe we can expect that to be fixed some time.....

It seems that you use the european date format and than I would say that
12.23.1999 is far away from beeing correct, or?

To resolve this look at the techdocs. I do not remember the number, but there is
one (You will have to search and replace DW_PARSEDT_dayseq).

After the call
ls_result = ids_datastore.Describe("DataWindow.Data.HTML")
in the generate function add this code:

/// This is the date order without modification
//var DW_PARSEDT_monseq = 0;
//var DW_PARSEDT_dayseq = 1;
//var DW_PARSEDT_yearseq = 2;

// This should be the date order for German date sequence: dd.mm.yyyy
//var DW_PARSEDT_monseq = 1;
//var DW_PARSEDT_dayseq = 0;
//var DW_PARSEDT_yearseq = 2;

string DW_PARSEDT_monseq ="DW_PARSEDT_monseq = 0" //Month-String to be found
string DW_PARSEDT_dayseq ="DW_PARSEDT_dayseq = 1" //Day-string to be found

string DW_PARSEDT_monseq_new ="DW_PARSEDT_monseq = 1" //Replacement for default
month
string DW_PARSEDT_dayseq_new ="DW_PARSEDT_dayseq = 0" //Replacement for default
day settings

// German Date
long position

position = pos(ls_result, DW_PARSEDT_monseq ) //Gets the variable position in
the html code

IF position > 0 THEN
ls_result = Replace ( ls_result, position, 21, DW_PARSEDT_monseq_new )
END IF

position = pos(ls_result, DW_PARSEDT_dayseq ) //Gets the variable position in
the html code

IF position > 0 THEN
ls_result = Replace ( ls_result, position, 21, DW_PARSEDT_dayseq_new )
END IF

you guys are great! thanks for a very very quick response.

i will try that option you said Berndt.

anyway, does it mean that HTMLDW's default internal mechanism is mm.dd.yyyy
or US English? if so, then it might be possible that just by changing my
regional settings to mm.dd.yyyy would give a correct format or eliminate the
problem?

well, let me try this 2 options.

using find and replace, how would we know when to 'find and replace'? i mean
it's not a good practice in programming to assume that every client or
servers are using euro format, rite? is there a way to let the HTML behave
appropriately depending on this settings?

tia.

The HTMLDW is a PowerBuilder component so it should respond appropriately to
changes in the regional settings.

i cant make it work.

first i tried to change the regional setting short date style to dd/mm/yyyy.
restart jaguar server. it wont work.

next i changed the custom HTMLDW to include the FIND and REPLACE option for
DW_PARSEDT_monseq, etc. Successfully deployed. Still doesnt work. i verify
on the generated HTML using View Source of the IE5. i can see the modified
version of the HTMLDW with monthseq = 1, dayseq = 0, yearseq = 2 or equal to
dd/mm/yyyy format.

i tried mixing up these two options. still doesnt work.

fyi, every option i did i RESTART the JAGUAR Service.

wat am i missing?

tia.

PS: When is PB8 and Next Version of EAS be released? Im just SOOO concerned
about whether EAS could 100% provide us a web solution on most of our
Desktop Applications moved into the net. our customers are so demanding. im
not losing hope on this direction our company is moving into. i got a lot of
trust to sybase. ;-) This applications are tight in USER-ENTRY validations.
Any comments, please.

The NaN stuff will come, but as I mentioned earlier I don't have any estimate on
when - it is being treated as a priority 1 issue right now, however.

guys, the techinfo document mentioned here is using the SetText() method to
force the column to contain the correct date in the ItemFocusChanged event
of DW, rite?

i understand that ItemFocusChanged is a valid event both for PB dw and
HTMLDW. But SetText is not a valid method in the client-side scripting that
can be called in dwMine_ItemFocusChanged(), rite? further, the sample code
shown seems like a PowerScript, not a dynascript or javascript.

...or maybe i dont get wat you mean.

anyway, i tried to suppress first the NaN stuff on the column by disabling
formatting just to show to the customer for my demo. still manageable.

when is the next release of EAS? PB8?

tia.

Hi,

I think this is clear enough described in the document or?

*snip*

Workaround:

To overcome this problem the date sequence needs to be adjusted to
the language settings. In order to implement this for the previous
example (dd/mm/yyyy) the generated HTML needs to be modified
before being passed back to the client.

This can be done by modifying the HTMLGenerator component ie. by
extending the code in the generate() method of
nv_remote_datawindow allows the correct HTML to be passed back
to the client browser.

*snip*

So you have to generate your own HTMLDW and enhance the generate
method and you are happy with european dates.

not sure about the techinfo document - I think Berndt is the one that posted
that. As for PB8 - stayed tuned is all I can say.

It looks like this issues is assigned to development at this point, but I don't
have a status or fix date for you. What I did want to mention is that there is a
note that says if you turn off client-side formatting the problem doesn't occur -
not that's an extreme workaround at best, but perhaps it will be suitable for
some segment of the population running into this.

Please do open the case. The newsgrups are not a replacement for technical
support. Things fall through cracks very easily.
