Hi,

I am running Jaguar 3.5 and have a PB component set to use pooling. How do I
limit the max # of objects pooled at any one time? Right now it has 50
objects pooled which is drawing alot of server memory and it never seems to
deallocate instances. I can't seem to find any documentation on the subject
and the resources tab of the compoent properties is not enabled.

Any help would be appreciated.

Regards,
Brad Gawne

Maui will have instance management. Anyways, how much load do you have?
Are you in production? Trying to understand why you have 50 instances in
the pool.

Brad,
The BIGGER problem is that your components are not being deactivated. When
you build the component, do you have the pooling option checked, and
Autodemarcation checked. My bet is that you are missing one or both of
these. You'd have to have an incredibly busy component to be creating 50
instances of it if it is deactivated properly.

just my $.02,
Kevin

There is no way to control that through any built-in feature of
Jaguar. The way we have done this in the past is to code the
component's canBePooled event to decide whether or not to pool the
component. There are several ways to approach this. The way we have
had success in the past is to keep a shared compnent that tracks the
number of instances in the pool and programatically decides whether or
not to pool the component. Make sense?
