I have built a powerbuilder component and deployed in to Jaguar. I exported the
stubs. This is what is generated by Jaguar:

package com.ace;

public interface n_cst_acl extends com.ace.n_cst_jag_cmpnt, org.omg.CORBA.Object
{
public boolean of_isgranted
(java.lang.String as_privilege,
java.lang.String as_item,
java.lang.String as_loginnm)
throws CTS.PBUserException;

...

I'd like the it to read
{
public java.lang.Boolean of_isgranted
(java.lang.String as_privilege,
java.lang.String as_item,
java.lang.String as_loginnm)
throws CTS.PBUserException;
...
How do I set this? Thanks, Paula

Say huh? It generates an interface and looks like it is extending another
interface. Your example isnt event a class. What are you looking for?

Dave -

Thanks for your quick response.

I exported the java stubs (idl - jag mgr) and am creating a java bean in PowerJ
so that I can call these methods from a JSP page. The error I am getting is:

EX-6 Expression cannot be converted for assignment.
TY-4 Source type is 'boolean'.
TY-5 Target type is 'class java.lang.Boolean'.

If the idl return type for of_isgranted was java.lang.Boolean instead of boolean
it would work. The user object n_cst_acl is written in Powerbuilder.I have
another package com.paula that has the return type as lang.java.String and it
works fine. I've tried to retrace my steps, but can't find the difference
between the two. Is there an option in Powerbuilder when I generate the
component? Jag Manager when you generate the java stubs? Any ideas?

Thanks, Paula

Ahh ok I see. Well here is the issue. OMG says that an IDL boolean maps to
a java primitive boolean, not java.lang.Boolean. Why do you want to pass
the object wrapper instead of the primitive?

Dave -

This is my first project using PowerJ - just getting used to the IDE and it is
painful. At this point, I don't care whether I use a primitive or the wrapper. I
just want the Powerbuilder generated type to match the PowerJ generated type.

When I type in boolean (insert method menu item wizard), it defaults to
java.lang.Boolean, and I can't edit the generated code to change it to the
primitive. Likewise in PB, I can't find a option to change a way to change the
return type from boolean to java.lang.Boolean. Tell me how.

Thanks, Paula

Ok well we need to use the primtive type. So if PowerJ is for some reason
making the parameter java.lang.Boolean just erase it and replace it with
boolean.

Thats so weird though. Ive not seen PowerJ do this. How do I repro?

Thanks! Thanks! Thanks!

The method is now working. I can call it from my JSP page. Erased the
java.lang.Boolean and replaced it with boolean.

To reproduce, right click on your java bean , click new method, replace method7
with uf_isgranted, replace public void method7() with public boolean
uf_isgranted(String apriv, String aitm, String auid). PowerJ 3.5 Build 1798

Ohhhh I see what you did. Yes if you were new to Java and PowerJ that might
be confusing. You say Boolean in the drop down. Remember in java only
Class start with upper case. PowerJ is a Java tool and assumed you knew
that was java.lang.Boolean the wrapper class. Not saying thats right, but
its why.

You are right. I used JBuilder on my last two projects and there
java.lang.Boolean is in the intellisense drop down,not Boolean ... just getting
used to the PowerJ IDE.

Thanks, Paula
