Hello,

I've set the 'color' on the header band on an HTML data window to be light
blue (sky)... when I view it with a browser it simply shows a white
background! I can set the individual columns to a particular color and that
appears to work fine, but when trying to set the color property of a 'band'
it just seems to ignore me.

I don't like being ignored! ;-) What's going on?

Thanks,

Bobby R

Ignored, what, how about just a post that slipped thru the cracks.

There is a bug where the background color does not work in the web
datawindow. It has not been fixed as of 7021. An alternative approach is
to add the background color in the BODY tag or implement CSS and specify the
background color or image. FWIW, using CSS makes the datawindows look a
whole bunch nicer in the browsers.

Hey Larry,

Thanks for replying! I'm somewhat familiar with CSS, however I'm not certain
how to achieve what your talking about. I'm always interested in seeing
'nicer' results so if you have a moment to explain that would be great!

Unfortunately, if I understand what your saying, it won't solve my problem.
The users, of course, have a specific color scheme they want followed and it
calls for the header portion to be 'sky' (blue) and the data rows to
alternate between white and gray. Within PB that isn't a problem... as a
matter of fact I have it looking exactly like they want it, but when I
deploy it to the web... no color!

Any ideas?

Thanks! (and I'm still interested in your CSS idea)

Tim's suggestion will work. I've implemented that at 1 client where they
wanted the screen to look like green-bar paper.

As for the CSS stuff, I'll be writing on that in future article(s) as well
as teaching it at TechWave this year.

Use an expression on the column to change the background color. If many
columns make sure their widths are somewhat overlapping so it appears solid.
The WEB DW has to give us more CSS control. With Netscape 5 supporting W3C
DHTML it should be simpler to create cross browser features using CSS.

Tim... Good work around. I had considered this, but I was hoping that
perhaps I had a setting wrong that was preventing the 'band' color from
displaying. Hopefully a fix is on the way.

Oddly enough, I found one PC out of about 15 that I can see the color on the
bands... and I have NO IDEA why that one PC can see it and no one elses can!
Bizarre.
