Hi, there

I've got EAServer 3.5, Informix ODBC driver (cli2.5, 32bit) and Redbrick ODBC
driver installed. I'm getting a lot of problems since Informix and Redbrick
ODBC drivers installed.

I created 2 datawindow using PB through Informix and Redbrick ODBC connections,
so I think those ODBC connections are fine. Then I created a HTML datawindow
page using previous created datawindow object. Then I deployed this page to
PowerDynamo following the all instructions to create and deploy HTML DW.
However, after I enter URL, eg http://localhost/mysite/mypage.htm, IE 5 brings
up the HTML page with error: "Error: Retrieve Failed = -1, Cannot connect!, An
invalid handle was passed in a call to the database driver". After I check the
srv.log from Jaguar/bin, I get messages as follows:
Mar 09 20:21:26 2000: Warning: DLL name is different, using previous name
Mar 09 20:21:26 2000: cm__odbc_alloc:alloc connection MEMORY_ERROR
Mar 09 20:21:26 2000: cm__odbc_error: SQLError: 0, SQLState: 00000, .

FYI, after I run the sample program SurfSide Video 3.0, I get messages as
follows:
Mar 09 20:22:57 2000: The Current Version is Developer Version
Mar 09 20:22:57 2000: IIOPCurrentSessions Limit Reached
Mar 09 20:22:57 2000: Contact Sybase to get the upgrade Edition
Mar 09 20:22:59 2000: Warning: DLL name is different, using previous name
Mar 09 20:22:59 2000: cm__odbc_alloc:alloc connection MEMORY_ERROR
Mar 09 20:22:59 2000: cm__odbc_error: SQLError: 0, SQLState: 00000, .

It seems there are ODBC conflicts there, but how can I make it work. Please
help.

Thanks

Stephen

Just for comparisons, set your dbms to "trace odbc" and see what error
messages get placed into the database tracing log.

This definitely seems to be an odbc conflict. Did it work prior to 3.5?

Hi, Larry

I set Trace ODBC API call in PB Database profile, it seems OK although I get
message when I try to connect database "Catalog tables could not be created and
ar not available for use". I've tried 3 Informix ODBC drivers, and I got 3
different errors from srv.log:

Mar 10 14:32:57 2000: cm__odbc_error: SQLError: 160, SQLState: IM003, Specified
driver could not be loaded due to system error 126 (PB INTERSOLV OEM 3.11
32-BIT INFORMIX)..
Mar 10 14:47:30 2000: cm__odbc_error: SQLError: 0, SQLState: IM006,
[Microsoft][ODBC Driver Manager] Driver's SQLSetConnectAttr failed.
Mar 10 15:06:16 2000: cm__odbc_error: SQLError: 160, SQLState: IM003, Specified
driver could not be loaded due to system error 126 (PB INTERSOLV OEM 3.11
32-BIT INFORMIX 9)..

This is new project, and we just installed EAS 3.5 without upgrades. What I
don't understand is I can connect to Informix database using those ODBC drivers,
and I can create datawindows etc in PB. But why they don't work in Jagaur CTS
when using HTML Datawindow? Are PB and Jaguar using defferent ODBC drivers? Do
you have any suggestions? Thanks for any help.

Best regards
Stephen

If you are using the same datasource, you are using the same ODBC driver. The IM003
message usually indicates that one or more files needed by the driver could not be
found in the path. Have you confirmed that the Informix client is in the path when
the Jaguar server starts up? PowerBuilder and Jaguar may be using different paths
so that could explain the problems here.

You can probably ignore the catalog tables error message as far as Jaguar goes, they
are used to supply edit formats, validation criteria etc. for datawindows that you
might create at development or runtime.

Jim,

Thanks for your information. I've checked that Informix client c:\informix\bin
is in search path, but how do I confirm that it is also in Jaguar's path?

Thanks for help.

Do you run Jaguar as a service or start it manually? If manually check the
serverstart.bat file in the %jaguar%\bin directory.

Hi, Larry

I run Jaguar as a service. But I tried to run Jaguar manually, and it works. I
don't get it here, why it doesn't work when Jaguar runs as a service. I've
pasted 3 files, i.e. srv.log Jaguar running as NT service, srv.log Jaguar
running manually and serverstart.bat:

srv.log Jaguar running as NT service (HTML Datawindow doesn't work):

I don't have the informix client currently loaded. Is the Informix/bin directory
where you find the files like isqlt07c.dll, isqlt09.dll, etc.? If so, is that on
your SYSTEM path? The differences in starting up the server via a service as the
serverstart.bat, is that the service is not running under the user environment that
you have logged in under. I double-checked the 126 error, and it is the issue that
some of the dependent files could not be found/loaded.

Yes, these file, such as isqlt07c.dll, isqlt09a.dll, etc. are located in
C:\informix\bin. SYSTEM path, is that the PATH in System of Control Panel in NT
where you could set up PATH or CLASSPATH etc? I've put C:\Informix\bin in
STSTEM PATH. Now if I type PATH in DOS command, I can see
..C:\informix\bin;C:\informix\bin twice. Nevertheless, I still get the error
message from srv.log as follows:
Mar 13 11:47:55 2000: cm__odbc_error: SQLError: 160, SQLState: IM003, Specified
driver could not be loaded due to system error 126 (PB INTERSOLV OEM 3.11
32-BIT INFORMIX)..

What else could be wrong? Thanks for your help.

Yes, that's what I meant - PATH in the SYSTEM area of the environment variables,
versus the user area. How about C:/Program Files/Sybase/Shared/IntersolvODBC - is
that on your SYSTEM path? The ODBC driver you are using is PBINF13.DLL and that DLL
must load PBUTL13.DLL and PBBAS13.DLL in addition to ISQLT07C.DLL, so if any of
those files is missing/not found you would end up with the same problem.
