My manager has been brainwashed by an old consultant that used to work hear!
Just because he has become a business partner with TIBCO, he thinks it's the
solution to all our problems. I've been begging my manager to take a real look
at EAS (we are kind of a PB shop), but for some reason she keeps putting me off
on the subject. I have never heard of this TIBCO solution and wondered if
anyone has any practical insight into it compared with EAS!

Any ammunition will be appreciated!

Tibco has at least 2 products that integrate well with EAS as the app
server: Tibco Rendevous is a messaging product that competes with
MQSeries; Tibco PortalBuilder is, well, a portal builder (I don't know
too much more than that except that it is considered a content
management piece of the portal puzzle and is an optional part of
Sybase's Enterprise Portal product (release next month).

I am not aware of any Tibco products that act in the place of an
application server.

I agree. TIBCO and EAS are very complimentary no exclusive. Sybase has
several products we have built in cooperation with TIBCO and consider TIBCO
a premier partner. The combination of EAS as an app server and TIBCO as a
messaging strata is very powerful.

Well,

We have a product called Sybase Enterprise Event Broker (SEEB) that
Integrates with Tibco, MQ, and a few other odds and ends that, as of Version
2.0, has been converted to run as a service component of EAS (note: this has
yet to be released). You could get the best of both worlds and compromise.

See the URL below for more information on SEEB.
