We have to move our transaction server from NT to Sun Solaris. One of the
things that puzzles me is how to
start Jaguar as a service on Sun Solaris (which I believe is called a
daemon). If anyone has had any success I
would appreciate a response.

Thanks

Solaris doesnt have anything like a service. Find attached a Solaris .rc
file I use to start my server.

First of all, this should be an easy task for your system
administrator, since it is standard procedure.

Something like creating a file called /etc/rc2.d/S99sybase
and adding something like:

case $1 in
start)
/opt/sybase/jaguar/bin/jagsrv.sh &
;;
esac

does the trick. Do NOT forget the ampersand (&) in the
end. That will kick it into the background...without it you
have a problem.
